I first came to Drake Bay in 2000 with the intentions of travelling all over Costa Rica. After the boat left me on the beach with my back pack I knew this was the place for me. I wandered up the hill to El Mirador and met the most wonderful family. Antonio,Mariana, Isis and Michael. I come back here every year and feel like I am part of the family. El Mirador has it all. Great views, great food at reasonable prices. I would recommend a minimum of 4 or 5 nights so you can take advantage of the tours El Mirador can arrange for you. I have talked to thousands of people over the last 11 years and without exception everyone says this is the best part of their trip. Believe me when I say you will not want to leave.

Just few words to let you know that we arrived safely at home this afternoon.Despite the tiredness,we still keep in mind the beautiful images of Corcovado and the kindness of everybody.We'd like to thank particulary aunt Nila, uncle Bob,the boss Mr. Vargas,the perfect waiter and our spanish teacher Daniel, the maid who made so wonderful shapes of ducks or other birds of our towels and our guide Aroy. Be shure we'll come again.
On the other side, like you all we are very sad of what happened in Japan,and that desaster darkened our great delight having been in el mirador.I only hope that the remnant of the tsunami didn't hit you.Please let us know.

We arrived on the 21st of December 2010 we had just wanted to stay a few days, and ended up stating our entire trip at El Mirador. The rooms have fantastic views of the ocean, and they are very clean. Attention to details is amazing. Staff is very friendly and helpful (even when your car has a flat tire). Meals are delicious as well
This hotel is for you if you want to experience the wilderness with comfort. Tours (whalewatching, snorkeling, a park full of animals , and horseback riding) were provided on site. They were great! We will definitely be back.

So many different wild animals mixed with a friendly staff and a very social atmosphere on the edge of the beach and the jungle!
Our four nights were a great alternative diversion from the more heavily traveled areas of Costa Rica.

Having explored the Bahia Drake area, my wife and I have found El Mirador Lodge to be a rare hidden treasure. The laid back atmosphere of this hillside perch presents a feeling of relaxation that immediately intoxicates both body and mind, and the lushness and mystique of the surrounding rainforest quenches the traveler´s deepest thirsts for adventure.
This environmentally conscious gem attracts a group of travelers that seem hard to find in more tourist orientated resorts , and the assistance provided by all staff members has shown a selflessness that can only result from a true love one´s occupation.
